As many of my friends and clients know I have a passion for a few things: Anything made by Apple, my MINI Cooper S and designing sites on and promoting Squarespace.  This Sunday I'll be driving from the Apple Capital to the Big Apple in my MINI Cooper S while rocking out to music on my iPhone.  I've accepted a position with Squarespace's Support and Social Engagement teams. Very. Excited.

So what happens to Dempsey Design? While I won't be accepting as much work, I'll still be offering service on a limited, case-by-case basis.  Of course I'll also provide support to my current clients as well.

I'd certainly like to thank my clients for patronage. I've been extremely pleased with how far Dempsey Design has come.

So I won't say "good bye" but rather, "I'll be seeing you".  I do have a few of my latest projects to share from some excellent clients. I'll post these soon.

I am most excited to learn more about mobile web development strategies and practices. As many of my clients and friends know I am a huge gadget nerd, and that the iPhone is the single best gadget ever invented.  With mobile web traffic increasing every day and more people surfing on their iPhone, iPad or Android devices I want to make sure that my clients will have the choice of optimizing their website for viewing on these magical gadgets.

Michael Blakley, owner of Corban Security attended the NCHBA home show this year to promote his newly rebranded company.  I designed the BannerUp modules for Corban's display this year.  I wanted to have two BannerUps that would compliment eachother yet could stand on their own if Michael chose to only use one.  The wonderful thing about Mark Bric BannerUps is that they can be used in many different promotional applications. If we need a different design for a specific event, we'll print a new banner and slide it in the BannerUp system. This gives Michael great flexibility with minimal costs for a new design.

Much like these BannerUps, my websites are designed in a similar fashion.  I get my clients set up on a system that makes it super easy and cost effective to simply swap out the look and feel of the site for a minimal cost.  Gone are the days of paying for a whole new website every time you want to change the look and layout of your site.

Any of my clients can tell you my three passions– graphic design, technology/gadgets and my MINI Cooper R53 "Baxter".  As such, I belong to the Puget Sound MINI Motoring Club, which has some fantastic members with diverse backgrounds.  James Boyer is one of those members.  I'd love it when James would post a new photos to his Facebook profile of some hot new exotic, most recently a 2011 Lamborghini 570-4 Supleggera (oh yeah).  James reached out looking for a new identity to compliment his style. So I came up with a logo that is classy and clean with a mark that could be used as a hood orniment (maybe I'd need to add a shield behind it if we went that direction). Also included were different variations of the logo (color and layout) depending on the application.  James will use this logo for the web, photo prints, printed collateral and logo wear.  You can check out James' work on his blog, or check out his retail site to purchase images.

I'm pleased to announce the launch of Amy Smith's new website.  Amy was ready for a fresh new website that would present her consulting services in a clean and modern design that is easy to update.  The site is built on Squarespace and which allows for easy expansion in the future.  I worked with Jill Townsend on this project as she coordinated  the project and provided the copywriting.

The American Association of Medical Assistants awarded the Washington State Society of Medical Assistants the national "Excel" award for their website created by Dempsey Design.

The Award was presented before more than 700 medical assistants from across the country at the 54th annual AAMA National conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Barbara Dahl of the Washington State Society of Medical Assistants explained that the website was designed as a member-owned, and member-used tool. “It was critical in the redesign that we allow each chapter of the State Association the ability to generate, produce, and control the content on their own page. This has been tremendous for member involvement, and the site in general has been very well received by our members.”

I am very pleased to have created such a useful and award winning tool for such a wonderful organization.

I’ve just wrapped up the first phase of a very rewarding project for Corban Security. Formerly Cascade Lock and Security, owner Michael Blakley wanted a complete rebrand that would help him better position his security company as a true industry leader.

Phase one included a new corporate identity, an overhaul of the website, promotional items, apparel, and graphics for service vehicles. The three-month project was both enjoyable and successful, and I’m eager to map out the next phase of this mutually-beneficial partnership.
